Muthamaki and Foxy Turungi

Muthamaki the sly Lion once thought to himself, “Why do I spend so much time hunting? That’s no way for a Muthamaki (King) to live”

So Muthamaki devised a devious plan. He sent word round that he had some magic potion in his cave that when taken by any animal, the animal will never be eaten by any predator. None the wiser many animals came for the potion. Kaviaru the Goat came and went into Lion’s cave. Korosho the ram went in, and before she came out Wamaziwa the cow went in too. Many accordingly went in. Pan Pypa, Mumi  Asuga, and many others

But Muthamaki noticed that the Foxy Turungi the fox had kept away, preferring instead to keep his own hunting ground where he was ruthlessly eating the other animals. So Muthamaki the Lion sent one of his Jackals to inform Foxy that he was expected at the cave to receive his goodies.

But Foxy sent word with the Jackal to the King saying,

“Tell Muthamaki, our King, that I have been to the door of his cave” he started. “Once there I have noticed that there are many footprints about the door. That’s good it proves he has a following. But there is something bothering me. I noticed that all the footprints are pointing into the cave and none coming out. That bothers me” finished Mr. Turungi with finality.

Jackal dutifully reported this to Lion. Muthamaki was furious. His time as King was running out and he really needed to eat that fox and add Foxy’s hunting ground to his pride land. Later, he called the Jackal again and gave him new instructions.

From then on, Jackal, when he was not telling the animals how greedy Foxy Turungi was, he was telling them how benevolent the Lion was. He would hold huge meetings in the fox’s hunting grounds and incite the other animals to rebel against the Foxy. In these meetings, the cattle were encouraged not to eat because they would be eaten by the Foxy. After much preaching by the Jackal, all the animals under Foxy rebelled and trouped behind Jackal into the lion’s den.

Once inside the dark cave, at the door, the ones with keen eyes would notice some bones resembling those of Jackal. But by then it was too late.
